Shaggy Fleabane (Erigeron pumilus) is a compact and cheerful Utah native that brightens the garden with waves of daisy-like blooms. Low mounds of softly textured foliage send up short stems in late spring and early summer, each topped with sunny yellow centers surrounded by fine white to pale purple rays. Despite its delicate appearance, Shaggy Fleabane is remarkably tough and thrives in rocky soils, open slopes, and other lean, well-drained sites. Its long-lasting flowers provide nectar and pollen for native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, helping support pollinator diversity in waterwise landscapes. Plant Shaggy Fleabane along the edges of dry garden beds and borders, in rock gardens, or woven through native meadow or prairie plantings.
