Shadscale (Atriplex confertifolia) is an upright shrub with gray-green leaves that look something like "cornflakes on a stick". These leaves turn a salmon-pink color in the fall and winter. This shrub is easily maintained and does not require pruning. This Saltbrush is the best species for garden use, as well as being valuable for restorative or natural landscaping projects. Place in xeric gardens for a textural element among softer foliage and colorful blooms. Do not fertilize or overwater.
