Sacred Datura (Datura wrightii) makes a stunning statement in dry gardens. Bold, silver-green foliage is topped with enormous, trumpet-shaped white flowers that open at dusk and fill the evening air with a light, sweet fragrance. These blooms, lasting from late spring through fall, drawing in native moths, which serve as key pollinators. Well-suited to hot, dry locations, Sacred Datura thrives in poor soils with excellent drainage and minimal water once established. Its sprawling form adds sculptural interest to xeric borders, pollinator gardens, and wild edges, where it brings a sense of drama and desert beauty. Plant Sacred Datura in dry garden beds and borders, rock gardens, Mediterannean gardens, desert gardens, and containers. Sacred Datura is somewhat tender to cold, but has been successfully grown as a perennial in many Utah gardens in hardiness zone 7 or 8, even though it is usually considered only hardy to zone 9. If growing as a perennial, choose it's site carefully and consider planting among, or near, rocks or providing other winter protections. For colder areas of the state, containers or growing as an annual are recommended. 
All parts of Sacred Datura are highly toxic and the sap can irritate skin.
