Redwood Buckwheat (Eriogonum racemosum) is a tough and beautiful native perennial that thrives in the dry, sunny conditions. Low mounds of silvery-green foliage provide year-round texture, while airy clusters of creamy white flowers rise above the plant in summer, gradually aging to warm shades of pink and tan. Exceptionally drought tolerant and well adapted to rocky, well-drained soils, this native buckwheat is an outstanding choice for xeriscapes, rock gardens, and naturalized plantings. Its long-lasting blooms attract a wide variety of native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators, adding both ecological value and understated beauty to water-wise landscapes.
