Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa) 'Pennock Pass Pincushion' is an adorable dwarf conifer selection of the native Ponderosa Pine that was found in Colorado. 'Pennock Pass Pincushion' stays extremely small. With its annual growth rate of only 1-2", it will be less than 2' tall and wide after 10 years! The extremely dense growth habit, accentuated by the long needles which ends up forming a pincushion look, and exceptional green color make this one of our very favorite mini pines! Use 'Pennock Pass Pincushion' to add unique, year-round interest to the front of garden beds and borders, rock gardens, Japanese style gardens, or the sunny area just outside of woodland or shade gardens. For best results, plant in sandy or loam soil with good drainage.
