Pinyon Pine (Pinus edulis) 'Penasco' is fun dwarf conifer perfect for gardens or containers! 'Penasco' is extremely drought tolerant and can handle harsh conditions, with the added benefit of growing faster than most other mini Pinyon Pines, a whopping 3-4" per year rather than 1-2"! 'Penasco' will form an irregular shape as it grows, but still maintains a nice, tight form. Use 'Penasco' in xeric garden beds and borders, rock gardens, or Mediterranean style garden beds. For best results, plant in sandy or loam soil with good drainage and be careful not to overwater.

Mature Size: Will be approximately 4' tall and around 2' after 10 years.
Hardiness Zone: 4 - 8
Light Requirement: Full Sun
Deer Resistant: Somewhat
Salt Tolerant: Moderately
Soils: Will do best in well-drained sandy or loam soils.
Plants in the Pinus genus are known host plants for 150 pollinators in northern Utah. Although 'Penasco' is small, it will likely still provide habitat for some birds and small animals.
