Pacific or Cutleaf Anemone (Anemone multifida) is a delicate yet resilient native plant that brings a touch of mountain wildflower charm to the garden. Finely divided, fern-like foliage forms soft green mounds that stay attractive through the season, while late spring to early summer brings cheerful cup-shaped flowers in creamy white to bright pink that hover above the leaves. These open blooms provide an accessible nectar and pollen source for native bees and other early pollinators, helping support garden biodiversity when many insects are emerging. Native to Utah’s foothills, mountain meadows, and woodlands, Anemone multifida thrives in well-drained gravelly or rocky soils and naturalistic plantings, where its airy texture and gentle flowers weave beautifully among grasses and other perennials. Use Pacific Anemone in the front of garden beds and borders, the edges of woodland or shade gardens, low meadow plantings, or cottage gardens.
