Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) 'Prairie Munchkin' is a fabulous little cultivar of Little Bluestm, bred for its steel blue foliage, stiff upright habit through all seasons, and compact size that makes it perfect for smaller areas. In the fall the blue foliage will turn a beautiful strawberry-blonde color to end the season. Little Bluestem is perfect for poor soils and dry garden spots. Plant in garden beds and borders as a speciman plant or group planting, or in natural prairie plantings. This selection can also handle some clay soil if its not too heavy and has good drainage. Little Bluestem is moderately tolerant of urban pollution.
