Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) 'Ha Ha Tonka' is an exciting new cultivar created from seeds collected at Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Missouri by renowned plantsmen Cassian Schmidt and Piet Oudolf. Rather than foliage color or growth habit alone, this gorgeous addition was bred for the fine hairs on its foliage that catch the light and glows when the light is right. In addition 'Ha Ha Tonka' features an attractive upright habit that resists flopping. Plant in beds and borders in groups or in prairie style plantings to fully show off its unique halo effect. This plant can be planted in a variety of soils, but drainage is important and it will likely not tolerate heavy clay.
