Golden Columbine (Aquilegia chrysantha) 'Denver Gold' is a selected version of Golden Columbine from Plant Select that features an abundance of showy, yellow blossoms, beautiful foliage, and graceful form. The large, long-spurred blossoms appear in late spring and will remain on the plant for several weeks. Deadheading those initial blooms will provide a second round that can last all the way through summer. Golden Columbine is a long-lived plant that thrives in dry partial or dappled shade, but is more sun and heat tolerant than many other native Columbines. Use 'Denver Gold' in partly shaded garden beds and borders, rock gardens, woodland plantings, or meadowscapes with supplemental moisture. 'Denver Gold' will self-seed and gently spread to fill in gaps around it's planting area, but is not considered aggressive. It is considered moderately tolerant of urban pollution.
