Fire Chalice (Zauschneria latifolia/Epilobium canum) is an attractive mounding and gently spreading perennial perfect for dry, hot garden sites. Dark green, lance-shaped foliage is accented by orange or red tubular flowers that hummingbirds flock to all summer long! This plant does well in dry garden beds or borders, xeric gardens, pollinator gardens, rock gardens, or as a taller groundcover. Fire Chalice is very drought tolerant and needs little supplemental irrigations, but may require some extra watering during dry summers to keep it blooming. An excellent choice for planting along western and southern walls and walkways that might fry more tender plants. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution.
