Broadleaf Penstemon (Penstemon platyphyllus) is a striking, upright penstemon endemic to the Salt Lake valley. Featuring broad, blue-green leaves and tall flower stalks topped with clusters of tubular lavender-blue to violet blooms, it is stunning in late spring and early summer! Its larger foliage gives it a fuller, more substantial appearance than many fine-textured penstemons, while the vivid flowers add a beautiful vertical accent to sunny landscapes. It is well suited to native borders, perennial gardens, rock gardens, and naturalistic plantings, where its colorful blooms attract hummingbirds and native pollinators.
