Hi friends, I’m Averie Wheeler! I have spent the last 14 years in nearly every aspect of horticulture and landscaping. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Production at BYU-Idaho, then spent time at a wholesale nursery in Layton, followed by a landscape construction and design company in Logan. After that, I started my Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University. If that weren’t enough, I added a husband, five children and a dog to my family, built my own home and helped with the construction of seven other homes during that same time period. To say it has been a wild ride would be an understatement! Now it is time for the next phase of life and have settled, hopefully for good, in Hyrum, Utah.
Outside of the plant world, I love spending my time geeking out with friends, playing board games, and sharing new experiences with my family. If you come visit the nursery, don’t be surprised if you find me singing or dancing as I move through my tasks. I find that music makes everything easier and so much more enjoyable.
Now that I have found a place at Cache Valley Native Plants, I have also found an opportunity to use my landscape design skills to help our clients refine and realize their own dream landscapes. I could not be more thrilled to be a part of this growing community of people, committed to shifting traditional landscapes toward more ecologically healthy and sustainable practices. To that end I thank you all so much for the warm welcome I have received, and I hope to be able to return the favor in due time.
